"We wanted to find ways of helping acclimatize new amputees to their newfound dependence on their caregivers. After all, they need to feel comfortable asking for help so that they don't hesitate when the need arises.
So, we developed the "swaddling cloths" approach to help coach them through the adjustment period. New amputees are gradually reintroduced to the world, and their bodies, in the same way as when they were infants.
